Looking to help? Volunteer!
Why you should Volunteer.
We will need hundreds of volunteers (some on Friday September 30 and Saturday October 1 and a lot on Sunday October 2) to conduct our inaugural Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half Marathon, beginning at Mount Vernon and ending at National Harbor. No experience necessary, just a willingness to help out and a commitment to showing up.
We appreciate our volunteers. Be a part of something huge and energizing, guaranteed to be a staple on the East Coast racing schedule. We couldn’t pull off such a phenomenal event without volunteers.
You won’t go away empty-handed. On top of the great satisfaction you will receive from helping others and having fun doing it, you'll be getting something extra for your efforts:
- 2011 official Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half Marathon Volunteer T-Shirt
- Guaranteed entry into the 2012 race
- Community service credit, if needed
Volunteer Opportunities
Putting on a premier distance event takes many people of many talents. Along with the year-long planning process, there are many opportunities to be a part of this great event on race weekend.
Saturday packet pickup at our Runner’s Expo at National Harbor
Sunday raceday from the starting line to the finish line and all along the course.
Organize your community groups to man a waterstop or one of 13 mile markers or a medical aid station. Show your organization’s excitement and vie for the “Best Spirit” competition. To sign up, simply send us an email.
Medical Volunteers
We are committed to having the safest race possible. To that end, we invite medical professionals to volunteer their expertise to support the half marathon. You must have one or more of the following medical credentials: MD, PA, RN, PT, ATC, NP, DPM, DO, EMT, paramedic or military corpsman. If you are certified and would like to be a medical volunteer, contact Steve Nearman
